Harini became interested in competing in the spelling bee by watching the 2013 Scripps National Spelling Bee on television with her family when she was in first grade. She began her spelling journey in second grade, competing in the NSF Regional Spelling Bee. She competed in the Scripps National Spelling Bee for the first time in 2018 and placed 323rd. In 2019, she ranked 30th, and in 2021, she ranked 31st. In 2019, she became the winner of the San Antonio Express-News Regional Spelling Bee for the second consecutive time.

On March 27, 2021, Logan won the Brontex Bee Regional Spelling Bee at the Blount Theater, paving the way for her entry into the Scripps National Spelling Bee. She shot to fame on June 3, 2022, when she defeated Vikram Raju in the first lightning round tiebreaker to win the Scripps National Spelling Bee. The competition is held at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in Oxon Mountain. During the competition, Harini spelled 22 words correctly in the spelling bee, with “moorhen” being her winning word, while Raju spelled only 15 words. When the jury started the 90-second spelling bee, finalists Vikram Raju and Harini Logan misspelled two words in a row between rounds 13 and 18. The contestant who spells as many words correctly as possible is declared the winner. In addition to awards from Merriam-Webster and Encyclopedia Britannica, Logan also received a $50,000 cash award and a Scripps Cup.
