Penn and Cho starred in three Harold & Kumar movies, starting in 2004 Harold and Kumar go to the White Castle and the last time in 2011 A real Harold and Kumar Christmas. The films were distributed by New Line Cinema and Warner Bros. Pictures — the two major Hollywood studios against which SAG is currently on strike.

Back in 2021, Cho suggested that ua GQ video interview that while there is interest in making another Harold & Kumar film, there was some confusion among the creative team about how to pull off the kind of comedy seen in the first three films of the series.

“This is a really stupid answer, but we had a lot of political jokes and racial jokes, and I don’t know what the movie can do now,” he said at the time. “I don’t know how to navigate that. We’re thinking about it, but it’s a much more complicated undertaking than it was five years ago.”
