Harshada Khanvilkar was born on 2 July 1973 in Lalbaug, Mumbai. She was educated at IES School, Dadar, Mumbai. She received her law degree from DG Ruparel College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Mumbai.

Profession
During her college days, a family friend gave her a photo from a magazine cover, which caught the attention of actress Neena Gupta, after which she started her acting career in 1989 with the Doordarshan TV series Dard. She has acted in several Marathi television serials such as “Puddhcha Paaul”, “Abhalmaya”, “Kalat Nakalat”, “Oon Paus”, “Gharkul” etc. She has also acted in Marathi stage plays: “Khel Thoda Vel” and “Pingela”. Apart from Marathi TV serials, she has also worked in some Hindi TV shows like “Dard”, “All The Best”, “Commander” and “Astitva Ek Prem Kahani”. In 2018, she participated in the first season of Bigg Boss Marathi as a wild card contestant.
