After Chappell Roan opened up about setting boundaries with fans, she finds support in Hayley Williams.
In a leaked Instagram Story shared by fans on social media, the 35-year-old Paramore frontwoman retweeted Roan’s recent notes about “predatory behavior (disguised as ‘superfan’ behavior)” along with a statement of support.
“this happens to every woman I know in this business, myself included. Social media has made it worse,” Williams wrote. “I’m really grateful that Chappell is willing to address this the right way, in real time. It’s brave and unfortunately necessary.”

The “Ain’t It Fun” singer’s message comes shortly after Roan, 26, posted a message on Instagram on Aug. 23 asking fans for respect after experiencing “non-consensual physical and social interactions.”
“For the last 10 years I have been constantly building my project and I have come to the point where I have to draw lines and set boundaries. I want to be an artist for a very long time,” wrote the “Casual” musician.
“I just have to put it out there and remind you, women don’t owe you anything,” she continued. “I chose this career because I love music and art and respecting my inner child, I do not accept harassment politely because I chose this path, nor do I deserve it.”

Roan told fans that she considers herself “at work” when she’s performing or doing journalism, but in “any other circumstances,” she’s “not in work mode” and “off.”
“I don’t agree with the idea that I owe a reciprocal exchange of energy, time, or attention to people I don’t know, don’t trust, or creep me out — just because they express admiration,” she wrote. .
“Good luck, honey!” the performer clarified that she was referring to “predatory behavior (disguised as ‘superfan’ behavior),” which she believes has “become normalized because of the way famous women have been treated in the past.”

At the end of the post, Roan said she wants to do “all the things that every person deserves,” such as “being outside, giggling with friends, going to the movies [and] feel safe.”
“There’s always more to the story and I’m scared and tired. And please don’t call me Kayleigh,” she wrote, referring to her real name. “I feel more love than ever in my life. I feel the most insecure in my life.”
Concluding the post, she thanked people for their support and said: “There is a part of me that I keep only for my project and all of you. There’s a part of me that’s just for me and I don’t want it taken away from me.”
Previously, Roan shared a series of TikTok videos dealing with the topic on August 19, telling viewers that she had some “authorized” fans who displayed “creepy behavior.”
