The 16-second audio clip is partially blacked out, but certain phrases provide the clearest indication yet of the star’s cause of death.

The words “rescue 23” are heard in the recording, obtained by TMZ, a likely reference to the local fire station that was assigned to the call.

The word “drowning” is also heard in the recording. Perry was found dead in the hot tub of his home in Los Angeles.

Police responded to a call to Perry residents around 4 p.m., where he was found unresponsive, according to the Los Angeles Times.

An anonymous source stated that there were no illegal drugs or signs of foul play at the scene at the time.

However, prescription drugs, including anti-anxiety and depression pills, were found in the home, law enforcement sources told TMZ.

Los Angeles Police Department Capt. Scot Williams, who is currently investigating Perry’s death, said the exact cause of Perry’s death will not be known for some time.
