Heart rocker Ann Wilson gives fans an update on her cancer journey as she prepares to return to the stage.
Wilson, 74, revealed she has finished chemotherapy and is “absolutely fine”, nearly three months after announcing she had been diagnosed with cancer and would be taking the rest of the year off.
“I know many of you are wondering how I am doing. So I thought it would be best if you heard this directly from me,” the musician said in a voice-recorded statement he shared on social media on Wednesday, September 25. “I’m fine now, but it’s been a long time, to put it mildly. Chemotherapy is no joke. It takes a lot out of a person. And then there are those two weeks of waiting for test results, a form of mental torture.”
The “Barakude” singer said that “luckily for me, when the results finally arrived, they were good!”
Heart’s Ann Wilson reveals she is ‘feeling great’ after cancer surgery, will undergo preventative chemotherapy
“I’m so excited to share that I’m done with chemo and officially ready to get ready to tour in 2025!” she continued. “Maintenance is going on, but I’m told the side effects are much less serious. The worst is over and I’m grateful for the effectiveness of this poison — but it’s more than welcome to get the f–king out of my body now.”
Wilson added that she is “extremely grateful” for the support she has received from fans over the past few months and stressed the importance of regular check-ins.
“My story has a happy ending thanks in part to early detection,” she said. “My advice? Check yourself regularly. I love you all and see you very, very soon. There is much to celebrate.”

Heart announces additional North American tour dates in 2025 following Ann Wilson’s cancer diagnosis
In July, the rocker announced that she had recently undergone cancer surgery and therefore took the rest of the year off to undergo preventive chemotherapy.
She and her sister Nancy Wilson, 70, were due to tour with Heart from July to December, but the dates have since been pushed back to 2025.
Heart last played a series of North American concerts in April and late May.
The band, which was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2013, reunited in 2019 after a three-year hiatus, and celebrated 50 years as a group in 2023.
“When I started, I didn’t even believe I’d live to be 30,” Wilson told PEOPLE in 2022. “In your early 20s, you’re just like, ‘I’m never going to grow old.’ I never dreamed it would last 50 years. It’s the bomb for me. When everything goes right, there’s nothing like it.”
