Heather Gay Finally Reveals Who Gave Her a Black Eye on RHOSLC: ‘I Had to Lie for Her’

The mystery of the great person Heather Gay in the third season is finally solved.

After nearly a year of speculation, Heather confirmed that former housemate Jen Shah bruised her eye during Tuesday’s season four finale RHOSLC.

The revelation came during one of the franchise’s most dramatic scenes yet when Heather and co-stars Lisa Barlow, Meredith Marks and Whitney Rose confronted new housewife Monica Garcia over her alleged involvement in the Instagram troll account Reality Von Tease.

Heather compared her suspicions about Monica’s behavior to former BFF Jen, who is currently serving a five-year prison sentence for her role in a long-running telemarketing scheme.

“We’re friends and we’ve been through this s—s— with Jen,” she exclaimed, adding that the women had “quenched feelings of doubt” with the former housewife.

“I went on a book tour and defended her and took s— for the fact that she bruised my eye,” Heather said sternly.

The rest of the women were shocked at the admission, and Meredith immediately asked, “What?” and Lisa gasping, “Wow,” across the table. Heather continued: “I had to ride hard [Jen] and I had to lie for her. We won’t do it again with you,” before telling Monica to “pack her bags and go.”

Heather ended up with a bruise on the left side of her face after a late-night party with co-stars Jen and Meredith Marks in San Diego during Season 3. At the time it was not clear exactly how Bad Mormon the author was injured because the Bravo cameras were not working at the time.

Heather’s mysterious injury remained a talking point throughout last season, with her calling the incident “humiliating” during the season 3 reunion episode 1 episode in January 2023. She also offered no answers as to how she got the bruised eye back then, despite previously telling cousin and co-star Whitney Rose, “I think we all know what happened, I just don’t think we want to talk about it.”

“I don’t know how I got a bruised eye,” Heather said during last season’s reunion. “I passed out. I don’t know what happened… I can’t talk to anything except I went to my room, I passed out and woke up with a blue eye.”

Since the incident was publicized last year, many have speculated that Jen was responsible for Heather’s bruised eye while the two partied late that night – and she was the first person Heather called the next morning.

“I trusted her the most,” Heather told Andy Cohen during the season three reunion, adding that she initially wanted Jen’s help in creating a “cover story” as she tried to figure out what happened.

If I had known Jen had done it, I would have covered it up, but that wasn’t my intention, Heather continued. “I was unconscious. Anything could have happened. I still don’t know how it happened.”

Despite Heather claiming that Jen bruised her eye in the season four finale, she didn’t share any further details. Jen also didn’t talk about the incident from the prison.

Heather and Jen met shortly before the filming of the first season of the show RHOSLC and quickly became close friends. The Beauty Lab + Laser owner even stood by her former BFF when Jen was arrested in March 2021 and subsequently charged for her role in the telemarketing and fraud scheme.

“Everything changed when she pleaded guilty,” Heather told PEOPLE in February 2023.
