Heather Rae El Moussa Responds to Valentine’s Day Post Backlash: ‘We Close Our Ears to Pettiness’

Heather Rae El Moussa doesn’t let the haters get to her.

After receiving backlash for leaving out his stepdaughter Taylor in a Valentine’s Day post on Wednesday, Flipping the El Moussas star took to her Instagram Story to set the record straight.

“We close our ears to small things. We strive only for positivity. My girlfriend knows that she is my girlfriend number 1 🤍”, she wrote alongside a photo of her hugging her stepdaughter.

Along with Taylor, 13, Heather is stepmother to Brayden, 8, who her husband Tarek shares with ex Christina Hall. Tarek and Heather also welcomed their son Tristan, 1, in February 2023.

In addition to the photo, the real estate agent recorded a clip of her and Tarek watching Taylor’s volleyball game on Thursday. “Go Tay!!! My forever galentine 🤍🤍🤍”, she added in white text over the video.

The first Valentine’s Day post Heather shared on Wednesday included a gallery of photos featuring Tristan, Tarek and Brayden, while Taylor was missing from both the photos and the caption.

“Happy Valentine’s Day to my boys T, T & B,” she wrote. “I have never felt so much love in my life. All three of them keep me on my toes but I wouldn’t have it any other way. I am so thankful that you are my husband, my best friend, my partner @therealtarekelmoussa. You are my person and the best dad I could ever have wish. I love you so much baby and I love you Tristan and Bray.”

In the comments, fans asked why she decided to celebrate only the boys in the family.

“I always like your content but now I’m only interested in guys?” one person wrote, while another added: “You can wish a girl a Happy Valentine’s Day too. It’s just sad to tell boys.”

Others pointed out that the post could make Taylor feel excluded: “What a way to make her feel less than a boy.”

“Totally no contact. It doesn’t matter where Tay has been the fact that she didn’t mention her on the day we celebrate our loved ones shows her character. So inconsiderate,” wrote another.

Despite leaving Taylor out of this post, Heather has frequently shared photos of all three children on social media in the past. She previously told PEOPLE how much she loved being a “bonus mom” to the kids long before she and Tarek tied the knot in October 2021.
