Heather Rae El Moussa Says Her Life Is ‘Drama Free’ After Stepping Back From Selling Sunset: ‘On to Bigger Things’ (Exclusive)

Heather Rae El Moussa is entering a new chapter in her life.

PEOPLE talked to Flipping the El Moussas star on how “drama-free” her life has been since he retired from Selling Sunset . She was part of the original cast of the hit Netflix real estate series, which premiered in 2019.

The series follows the agents of the Oppenheim Group as they compete to sell the most luxurious properties in Los Angeles, often creating feuds – and friendships – along the way.

As a new mom to 9-month-old son Tristan and now entering a new chapter in her house-flipping career, the 36-year-old reality star says her priorities have changed.

“I love that I can prioritize my family and my happiness and step away from some drama that Selling Sunset brought into my life,” Heather Rae tells PEOPLE. A lot of things happened that I don’t want to talk about, but overall I’m very happy with my life.”

While still a real estate agent with the Oppenheim Group, she’s retiring from the reality show to focus on a new venture with husband Tarek — HGTV Agile El Moussas.

Season 2 of the renovation series, which premiered earlier this year, is expected to wrap up in early 2024. Viewers will watch the married couple take their twists and turns to a whole new level by tackling some complicated renovations in the upcoming season.

Compared to Selling Sunset, Heather Rae says, “Now I can just shoot with my husband, no drama,” adding that “the drama is in houses, not between people.”

She continues: “It’s so amazing that I don’t have to worry about fighting with my girlfriend when I go to work.”

While the new mom says she’s “on her way to bigger and better things” and has some exciting projects coming up, she still looks back fondly on her time Selling Sunset and the friendships she made with her castmates.

“They are lifelong friends and that is the most important conclusion Selling Sunset,” she says. “Those ladies will always be my girlfriends. We’ve been through a lot together.”

In the sixth season, viewers watched as Heather Rae and Bre Tiesi, who was new to the series and the Oppenheim Group, became especially close. The couple bonded through motherhood, as Heather Rae was pregnant with Tristan at the time, and Tiesi has a 16-month-old son, Legendary, with Nick Cannon.

Heather Rae adds that she “still supports the show” and that she “wouldn’t change a thing about the direction it was going.”

“I had a great time while filming, but there are bigger things going on in my life,” he concludes.
