Grote was born in Germany and studied hotel administration there. He started his profession at the Adlon Hotel in Berlin, Germany. He moved to Marbella in 2002 to work for the Olivia Hotels organization. He became the CEO of the organization in 2010.

Olivia Hotels have added a number of new hotels to their Marbella portfolio under Grote’s leadership. The Olivia Beach House in Dubai, the company’s first hotel outside of Spain, debuted in 2017.

September 30, 2022, Munich The fast-growing Gorgeous Smiling Hotels, with its corporate office in Munich, will officially have a new management team as of October 1. Heiko Grote, the creator of the multi-brand operator, will continue to hold the position of Chief Executive Officer of GSH Holding and General Manager. The new combined leadership of CFO Marc El Manchi and COO Edwin Jebbink will assume operational responsibility as CEO of the umbrella business Gorgeous Smiling Hotels GmbH, as well as Rilano Group GmbH and GS Star GmbH.

With the recently established GSH Academy, they hope to further promote expansion in the DACH region in the new constellation. The new management team is also increasingly reaching out to the Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland thanks to its extensive international expertise.

Together with Heik Grote, they have recently been working diligently on the future direction of Gorgeous Smiling Hotels. Edwin Jebbink, who has been in charge of operations as COO since the beginning of the year, has also taken responsibility for revenue, sales and e-commerce. Marco El Manchi is a leader in finance, procurement, legal development and IT. Both managers bring years of experience and knowledge of other countries to their new roles.

Since January 2020, Marco El Manchi has been working as Finance Manager at Gorgeous Smiling Hotels. He studied law and business administration in Barcelona and Vienna. He previously supported projects mainly in the areas of mergers and acquisitions with a focus on consumer and construction for a strategic consulting firm. He states that the goal is clear in which direction it will move in the next few years. Whether they are already built, newly built, rented or purchased, we plan to add 10 new hotels per year.

With the new constellation at the top, we now have the resources and expertise to achieve this, as well as a strong sense of motivation. The best thing is that we cooperate well. Working with Heiko and Edwin is a lot of fun. The chemistry has to be right.

Edwin Jebbink has a master’s degree in business, management, hospitality and marketing from Cornell and The Hague. He started working for GSH in May 2021 as an external consultant, and has been COO since September 2021. Jebbink is considered a far-sighted strategist and motivator who has become familiar with all the sensitive points of the hotel industry during his managerial career.

He has concrete plans for his new role and the future of the company, stating that quality will be at the forefront of both growth and further development of current assets. This specifically includes space for staff and equipment. This is why our team and I recently launched the GSH Academy. We will take new steps in employment, training and higher education for the hotel sector of the future.
