Not only were the filming locations different, but even the lines for the grand prize were different. This season’s winner will receive a $250,000 prize and a job as head chef at Gordon Ramsay’s new restaurant in Lake Tahoe.
At the premiere, 28-year-old Mary Lou Davis immediately stood out from the crowd with her bright purple hair and infectious energetic personality. Mary Lou is an executive chef from San Antonio, Texas who is constantly striving to become a leader in the culinary world.a self-describing “Loud energy ballgy,” Mary Lou received a low score of 2 points in her first challenge. Despite the disappointment, she seemed relatively steadfast and determined to impress Ramsay in the next round.
Mary Lou’s culinary journey began in 2013 while she was completing her studies at the University of North Texas and realizing that the path she had set for herself was not the right one. She then attended the highly competitive and prestigious Culinary Institute of America in San Antonio. After graduating in 2015, Mary Lou was hired as the kitchen manager at Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen and then moved to Perry’s Steakhouse as sous chef. She brought her sous chef skills to Tower of the Americas and then to Whiskey Cake Kitchen and Bar, where she continued to rise through the ranks. She now serves as the farm-to-table restaurant’s executive chef, noting on her professional Instagram that not only is she the restaurant’s youngest chef, but also the only woman.
In her free time, Mary Lou runs a YouTube channel called Geeks&Grubs. In these videos, she dresses up as some of her favorite characters and cooks food that fits the fantasy world theme.Recent films that have inspired her videos include Black Panther, Ratatouille, and The Princess and the Frog.
