‘Helpless’ Patsy Palmer gives emotional update on LA home after jetting to UK to film EastEnders days before wildfires

PATSY Palmer has admitted she feels ‘helpless’ in an emotional account of her LA home amid devastating bushfires.

The 52-year-old has spent the last decade living in Malibu after moving there with her husband Richard and their children.

But over the past year she has been splitting her time between the West Coast and London after returning to EastEnders where she played her legendary alter ego, Bianca Jackson.

After Christmas, Patsy returned to the UK to continue filming the BBC soap, just days before Los Angeles was hit by a number of devastating bushfires.

Numerous wildfires have left numerous communities around LA in ruins, including Pacific Palisades, Hollywood Hills and Malibu.

Taking to Instagram, Patsy shared a video in which she revealed her home was thankfully still intact, having survived a previous fire threat just weeks earlier.

She said: “I’ve just woken up after the first night’s sleep I’ve had in a few nights, apparently because of the fires in California where I live.

“Working here in London I feel quite helpless and all I can really do from here is share the resources of everyone who is working tirelessly to help and give whatever people need.”

Patsy continued: “All I can say is I hope it doesn’t sound like something out of reach for people at the moment, but honestly meditation.

“If you can find a few seconds to take a deep breath. Realize that what’s gone is gone, the future is just a dream, it’s not real.

“What we all have no matter what circumstances we’re going through, all we have now is this time, right now, this present moment.”

In another post, Patsy shared pictures and videos from when she was cleaning out her garage to find precious memories with her husband after a previous fire threat.

She captioned the clips: “A week before Christmas I got a call at 2am LA time from my husband telling me they were evacuated due to a fire surrounding our house in Malibu.

“The whole neighborhood was on fire! I flew home to our precious house, which is still standing, but our neighbors are gone, and the land next door has burned.

“We cleaned out the garage finding things from years ago that we had kept. Precious memories, photos, mementos, etc. I felt an overwhelming sadness that we almost lost these things.

“We had the most grateful Christmas ever enjoying mostly together, still in our home. I went to London to work with all my heart NEVER EXPECTING THIS TO HAPPEN a week later!!

“I experienced a small part of what we feel when we lose everything we own and it was painful enough so to experience this again is indescribable.

“Our house is miraculously good again. It’s traumatic for everyone to lose everything they own and precious memories that we often don’t know we have in our garages. We laugh and say we’ll get rid of it, but when it’s taken, someone else hits it.”

She continued: “In 2018 a small part of Malibu burned down, it was shocking to the core, we lost our rent so we were homeless for 3 months, it was hard for the kids.

“I come from Bethnal Green and it’s a world away from these kinds of disasters. Even though I’ve been through it, I also know how amazing a community can be.

I will share resources as I am helpless here in London again. I love you all so much.

“It was so nice to see how everyone came together and helped everyone with things and traumas and everything.

“My family and pets are safe and I know they will do everything they can to help. It’s surreal when you’re driving 20 minutes down the road and it’s like nothing is happening.

“The sun is shining and life goes on (Thank God), but yes, it sure is surreal. Today I am sending all my energy to everyone.

” May you be blessed with healing love and so much understanding during this crazy time. I will be sharing resources as I am helpless again here in London. I love you all so much.

“These are just some of the Christmas holiday videos I took. They seem so small in comparison. Help people make sense.”
