Hema Malini is a veteran Bollywood actress, film producer and Indian politician, also popularly known as “Dream Girl”. Apart from working in mainstream Hindi films, Hema Malini has also worked in Tamil films.

Hema Malini was born on Saturday, October 16, 1948 in Giyapuram, Tiruchirappalli district, Madras Presidency, India (age 73; as of 2021) as Hema Malini Chakravarthy. Her mother was a film producer, so Hema Malini was exposed to the film industry. However, her first love was dancing and she wanted to be a dancer in movies. She was in grade 12 when she played a dancer in her first film.
In 1964, she auditioned for a Tamil film Venniradai, but was rejected by director CV Sridhar because she was very thin at the time. Later, she made her debut with the Hindi film Sapno Ka Saudagar, which did not do well at the box office.
After the release of Hema Malini’s debut film, there was no looking back. She received more film offers. Her performance in the romantic comedy “Seeta Aur Geeta” and the film “Sholay” was critically acclaimed.

Hema Malini has been interested in dance since she was a child. She started learning dance at a very young age. She studied at Andhra Mahila Sabha, Chennai and later attended Tamil Education Society Higher Secondary School, Delhi. The school is in Delhi. She studies well and likes history the most. More interested in dance, she gave up her studies and made her debut as a dancer in a regional film in 1961.
A producer, Hema’s mother wanted her to become an actress. But although she continued working as a dancer, she failed to carve a place in South Indian films as an actress. In 1968, she made her acting debut with the Hindi film “Sapno Ka Saudagar” starring Raj Kapoor. She is the fresh face that every director wants to cast in their films. In 1999, Hema Malini campaigned for Vinod Khanna (BJP) and joined the BJP in 2004 as a member of the Lok Sabha. In March 2010, she was appointed general secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party. In 2014, she was elected to the Lok Sabha defeating Jayant Chaudhary by 3,30,743 votes. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, she won again from Mathura constituency in Uttar Pradesh with a margin of 2,93,471 votes.
