Herd of Over 60 Goats Makes Shocking Stampede Through Texas Town and Causes ‘a Mess’

A herd of goats rode into a Texas town and took it over.

On Feb. 27, Arlington police received calls about a group of more than 60 goats trotting down neighboring roads, according to CBS.

The Arlington Police Department shared a video on Facebook of officers trying to corral dozens of wandering goats. The department said in the video that the footage was taken near the Crystal Canyon Natural Area in Arlington.

In the video, the goats run out of the wooded area onto the road as police walk behind the animals. Several police cars block the road so the goats can run free.

“If you see one OR 474 of these guys, who may have wandered off, please call the non-emergency line,” the police department added in the video.

Police have shared several videos of the wandering goats on YouTube. In the clip, which is from the officer’s body camera video, the officer tells another, “[the goats] they go here. We need them to go that way,” before adding, “I told you it was a bunch of goats.”

The goats then walk in a group down the road in front of several houses before the police officer exclaims, “Oh, that’s a mess.” Another officer remarks that the goats are “kind of cute.”

“Go, goats, go back where you came from, please,” the policeman can be heard urging them forward. “Who knew we were goat hunters now?”

According to NBC5, Arlington police safely brought all the goats into custody and no animals were harmed. The agency also brought information from where the surprising stampede of goats came from.

“Arlington has partnered with Open Space Development to clear invasive species, free waterways and reduce fire danger in the area through the use of a professionally managed goat herd,” the police department said in a Facebook post.

According to CBS News, Arlington city officials said the goats were supposed to be doing their business in a closed area of ​​the Crystal Canyon Natural Area, but they suspect a passerby may have opened a gate in the area, allowing the animals to wander onto the roads.
