Holly was joined by Craig Doyle, 53 – popular stand-in host for This Morning host Phillip, 61, as they chatted to Broadway star Idina Menzel, 52.

The mom-of-three, in a pretty floral dress, quizzed the singer about the 10th anniversary of Frozen, as well as her role as Wicked’s green witch, Elphaba.

However, ITV viewers who watched the episode halfway through – fronted live by Emma Willis, 47, and Rylan Clark, 35 – were left completely stunned by Holly’s return.

One went to X and mused: “Just in thoughts Holly left #thismorning.”

Another wrote: “This shows #thismorning is missing Holly”, while one commented: “Viewers who just tune in will think Holly is back!”

Another mused: “Are they asking Holly to come back or what…” while one said: “Oh, they turned her on…”

One then clarified the situation, saying: “Calm down guys, it’s a compilation clip. Holly’s not actually back.”

Earlier this year, Holly thanked her viewers when she shared an emotional statement revealing she had quit the ITV show.

In a post on Instagram, Holly wrote: “Today I have informed ITV that after 14 years I will not be returning to This Morning. To everyone who has ever worked on the show over the years, thank you so much.

“This is such a hard parting, you are amazing and I will forever be proud of what we have done together. I’m not going back to This Morning.

“Thank you to everyone at ITV for your support. To every guest who sat on our sofa, thank you.

“Most of all, thank you to the wonderful viewers. You have been so loyal, supportive and the best company every day.

“Richard and Judy said ‘we just care about this series, it will always belong to the viewers’.

“It was an honor to be a part of his story and I know that this story has many more chapters.

“Unfortunately, however, I now feel that I have to make this decision for myself and my family. I will miss you all very much. Holly.”

Back in May, Holly’s co-star Phil had an affair with a young employee, which later led to his resignation from the show – causing chaos on the ITV daytime series.

Meanwhile, Holly’s major career change came after it was revealed she was the victim of an alleged foiled kidnapping plot.

After losing her assistant of 14 years, Holly then faced a horrific alleged kidnapping plot in which Gavin Plumb, 36, from Essex, was accused of contacting a “killer” in the US and allegedly making equipment to tying her up as part of a plan to kidnap her.
