The Sun has contacted Hollyoaks for comment.

During her time on Hollyoaks, Emma won critical acclaim for her portrayal of anorexia and bulimia.

The story also sees her best friend in the soap, Melissa, die from the condition.

Emma’s other stories included a fire, a gangster drug deal and an escape.

She previously told The Sun on Sunday: “When I left Hollyoaks I hardly got any interviews for months. The casting directors didn’t let me in the door.

“They would just see ‘Hollyoaks’ and say no.

“So when I came to America, it was incredibly liberating to be given the opportunity to prove what I could do and to be able to transform for roles.”

“Now I often have to pinch myself when I think about the things I do.

“I’ve become good friends with Ben Kingsley, and when we went out to dinner the other day, he fell into his character from Sexy Beasts.

“He was also telling me stories about Martin Scorsese, who is my favorite director ever, and I was sitting there thinking, ‘I can’t believe it.'”

Emma added: “I’ve definitely had to sacrifice relationships – and some friendships – for my career.

“But I’m ambitious and right now I want to put my career first. Maybe when I go a little further, I will settle down and have children.

Emma, who also starred in the BBC hit Prisoner’s Wives, made the decision to move to America in 2012.

Back in 2020, she was accused of breaking UK quarantine rules by going to a party during the coronavirus restrictions.
