Hollyoaks star unrecognisable 12 years after steamy onscreen romps and character’s shock car crash death

FORMER Hollyoaks actress Scarlett Bowman has swapped the glitz of the soap opera for the world of fine art – and now she looks completely different.

She left the soap in 2012 after her character was brutally killed in a car accident.

During her time on Hollyoaks, Scarlett praised her character Maddie for being a good role model for teenagers, particularly through her story of Maddie losing her virginity and placing a three-month sex ban on boyfriend Callum Kane until she felt ready to be intimate with him.

Scarlett was nominated for Sexiest Woman at the British Soap Awards 2012, but lost out to Michelle Keegan.

And Scarlett now has a very different life 11 years after she stopped being in the limelight.

Scarlett married husband Rob Colicci in a lavish ceremony in Portofino, Italy in 2016.

After they said ‘I do’, their friends and family gathered to watch the newlyweds as they sped off in a pale yellow Fiat 500 Jolly decorated with flowers to begin their new life as husband and wife.

Together, the couple has a son, Rafael, and a daughter, Juno Rose.

She also has a full complement of qualifications in fine art, textiles and photography, and went on to study classics at Newcastle.

Scarlett later earned an MA from Chelsea College of Art.

Today, she is a mother of two children and a contemporary artist who specializes in collages and runs her business projects on walls, installing art in commercial spaces.

In an interview with King and McGaw curator Becca Pelly-Fry, she said of her creative process: “It takes me forever to make these collages in my mind and physically on the table.”

And Scarlett explained to Floorr Magazine why she does this type of art.

“Incorporating a wide range of materials has always been part of my process,” she said.

“I can follow this from the beginning really.

“I didn’t have too much money to buy expensive art materials, so I worked with things I found everywhere – from literally around the house to skippers, to discarded construction materials on the streets, etc.

“I used to collage old magazine clippings as a kid and got back into that hobby when I left college, just in my spare time.

“This ‘collage’ based approach developed to collage together found objects and inexpensive materials purchased from local hardware and thrift stores and as a result, it naturally evolved into a very utilitarian based aesthetic.”
