Horrifying moment hammer-wielding thugs violently attack bin men before flinging stop sign at vehicle as workers flee

THIS is the shocking moment ax-wielding bandits were attacked by claws in two separate roadside brawls.

The footage shows the driver jumping out of his Vauxhall Corsa as he approaches workers in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire.

After hitting the men, he pulled a school crossing sign from his boot and started swinging it at the truck, which managed to drive away.

The video then shows the same driver with three other men attacking another garbage truck as it completes its round.

Armed with an axe, a hatchet, a sledgehammer and a club, the robbers ran towards the wagon and a fierce fight broke out.

One worker is hit on the body with a bat, while one of the young men breaks the windows of the truck.

Another crew member was then attacked before falling over a bin, reports StokeonTrentLive.

The police confirmed that the first worker in the container was hit three times and was taken to hospital with head, face and foot injuries.

Three binmen in the second attack were also injured, and one also required hospital treatment.

The police located the Vauxhall Corsa and found a sledgehammer in it.

It is not clear why the two fights broke out in March or why the claws were targeted.

The four men have since pleaded guilty to a range of offences, including wounding with intent, assault and criminal damage.

Joe Cordon, 27, Kyle Hilditch, 18, Kyle Worthington, 19, and Jack Spackman, 24, are scheduled to be sentenced on September 13.

Stoke-on-Trent City Council previously said: “This is completely unacceptable and will not be tolerated.

“Our thoughts are with those who were injured and their loved ones, and we want to praise and thank our crews who are doing their job and supporting our city.

“We are supporting the ongoing police investigation. Our teams work tirelessly to deliver public services and their safety should not be compromised.”
