Melanie Joly told reporters: “There are four Canadians who are executed and therefore strongly condemn what happened.”

Joly added that all four were convicted of drug charges.

The Canadian Foreign Ministry also revealed that Robert Schellenberg, a Canadian man sentenced to death in 2019 for alleged drug smuggling, was spared with execution.
