For Alessia Cara, the release of her new album almost feels like a bike is driving again.
“It’s just a little more hesitant, and I’m more nervous because it’s been between a long time,” a 28 -year -old winner Grammy says People of Zuo before publishing. “I feel like you first get back in a strange way.”
But Love and hyperbole – Her fourth studio album, released on Friday, February 14th – is far from Emperor’s first behind the steering wheel. After decades in the music industry and almost four -year absence from 2021. Meanwhile (Her “longest distance time” between the albums), Cara now believes in herself again and releases an all -night project. In a sense, the same confidence can be seen on the cover of the album – which shows it holding one hand.
“I really feel like I’ve learned to open my heart to love and believe in other people in the last three years,” Cara says about Love and hyperbole and his visual representations. “But in the end, it came back to believe in yourself – and not so much to believe that they will do everything all the time, but believing that you will be okay if and when he does not do so.”
“It doesn’t work, it is inevitable that things don’t go on a trip or be a broken heart,” she adds from the album message. “We are not exempted from the feeling of pain. So, I think it is just that feelings” I’ll be fine if it doesn’t go my way. ”
Love and hyperbole He not only demanded the Emperor to trust herself, but she also gave her the opportunity to trust a few other people with her vision, as part of Lenovo and Intel, who made a campaign in partnership with Universal Music Group for brands. For that, Cara was in partnership with creatives like Maris Jones, Gaia Maria and her brother Dario Caraciolo to make a trailer for the album and the behind -the -scenes visual representations that best represent feelings of love, hyperbole and, of course, the album.
Ahead of the release of the album and the upcoming tour, starting in April, Cara caught people to talk about their last partnership, Love and hyperboleThe upcoming tenth anniversary of the debut for 2015 Know everything And the colors he sees in his new work as part of his synesthesia.

What about this partnership felt like good in creating this trailer?
They were just so open to me, creating everything I wanted. I need to use their really cool products that are super high -tech and really innovative and advanced. Just the procedure did really cool. I think what we landed was this album trailer where we could announce a list of songs and give each song a little moment, a little mini world in you, which you really can’t work as a pop artist. Only a few songs usually get videos in today’s day and age.
There is one part of the booming place that I considered super neat, and you already talked about it, but you talked about your experience with Sinesthesia. What colors did you see while making this record?
I honestly used a lot of colors I saw on the title art, which is why there is a lot of black and gray in color and that kind of wine, burgundy, reddish in color. Every time I wrote and finished the song, it would fall into the same world. They were just coal gray, dark shade, and then that warm red. It’s really nice to be able to use this strange little thing I have – it’s otherwise useless – in your job when it’s important. For everything else, it doesn’t really have a purpose, but I definitely like to use it when making a visual.
Do you consider yourself hyperbolic in your daily life? Do you use a lot of hyperbole in conversation?
I always speak in hyperbole. Again, whether it is a humorous sense, this is mostly the way I use it, but only in life it is safe. Usually I would not say a dramatic person, but I am a very sensitive, emotional person and a very anxious person. I think anxiety is constantly hyperbolic, because again, it just seems to be the end of the world.
When we talked last year, you talked about starting this album around the end of 2021. It’s been four years for a long time. Do you hear those years of your life when you listen to it now?
I can definitely. I really tried to make this album as chronologically as possible, so you can hear that journey because of the lack of better words, throughout the whole thing. And definitely when I listen in advance, I can hear exactly where I was at every point. I feel proud of myself. Once I listened to the whole thing and I got to the end, I felt really proud of myself that I pulled myself out of those holes that I may have dug for myself in a way that feels good. I am in peace with much more than I was when I first started. So we hope people can hear the way they can.
What is your favorite thing you learned about yourself while putting your final touches on this album?
I only learned to throw out outside and not be afraid of saying something that could be a little scary. But only when it all comes down to the writing procedure, I used to be such a shy writer where I would have to get into a producer studio with a song already made, because I was so scared to try the idea before them just to lose their time or something. I always felt like I had to prove myself and prove that I was good. But with this album I really let go and I just managed to improvise in the room and just murmur things and say an idea that could be stupid and just throw a bunch of darts on the wall and see what’s coming. I learned to bring it with me for the next few albums and just like, who cares? Just have fun with that and try things.
We have many different grooves and stylish choices on the album, from “(Isn’t that obviously” up to “slow motion”. But what would you say, it seems that these songs feel as whole as a unit?
I think they feel like they belong to the same world musically, although they are all very different. I mostly made this live album, which was super useful in feeling cohesive because all [the] Sounds, there is a person who plays them and textures. All the little elements, I tried to really make them feel as cohesive as possible, while giving as much variety as possible. It feels like the most popular album I made. I think the story also helps to connect it, putting it in some chronological way from start to finish.
November will mark the 10 -year -old anniversary Know everything. What do you particularly mean to you now?
I almost see this as maybe an older sister, and you have a little sister who is really sweet at first and then start to become boring. And then you have that connection where you are a little annoyed and you are like, “Ah, you are not really so cool.” And then when it gets older, you start to relate again, and you are like, “Wait, my little sister, I love you.” That’s how I feel about the album. It was the point where I outgrown him and I was not outraged at him, but you feel like you have to constantly compare yourself to the version of yourself you no longer hang out with because I was a kid when I did it. I just grew up so much and I can look back at that version of myself and those songs and be so proud of them.
These songs led me around the world. They gave me their lives and I am so endlessly grateful to all the people involved in this project and that album and these songs. And I really love them and I love them to sing them again now. Again, you get tired for a while, but now I’m excited again that I sing them because it simply feels nostalgic, and I know people love them, and it makes people happy.
Is there a message you would give 10 years ago about the journey you are creative on?
I would say so much. I think I would honestly just tell her to hold because I had no idea what was coming – honestly Not idea. And it was definitely a tornado vortex for 10 years. So I would say, “Just hold on. The people you have around, keep them around,” which I am grateful.
And as much as it sounds, “stay as present as possible,” because it was many times when I think I was so overwhelmed that I couldn’t keep or catch anything or process anything. I was missing a lot of moments that I could get better caught because everything that happened to me. So I would tell myself to stay present and record small shots as much as possible.
How does your catalog increase while you continue to create records, does it become easier or harder to decide on the setlists before this tour?
I would say it is sure to be sure to get harder. This is because there are more people to disappoint. Every album you stated and every song you cut … everyone will have different favorites, and then there will always be someone upset their song was not played. That part is shit because I want to play every single song. But I think we can always make a little medleys work. I think it’s a beauty to have a ton of songs just so many keys, just so much chord, so we can somehow get different things.
What was your favorite memory to you Love and hyperbole For now? What moment did you most mean to you on this trip?
My God. There were so many things. I think it’s just the most interesting thing to ever do a project that I absolutely love, without the victims artistically to be stored. I think I just matched myself with every single. I really love them and I can only speak to them so honestly because I really feel so proud of them. So I think it’s like my creative dreams and what is allowed to be creatively harmonized was so special. And only when I see a reaction, seeing people who have been waiting for my new music for the last three years and have been here for the last 10 years, are still excited and still waiting for new things. It is always special when you see them and hear what they think of these songs, and the fact that they like it is the best.
