How Randall Park Changed His Life After the Death of His Father: 'A Wake-Up Call' (Exclusive)

Randall Park has faced some of his biggest personal challenges in the last few months.

“The last year was a lot of high and a lot of the lowest,” ” Residence The actor speaks exclusively to people. Testifying to his father’s death from Cancer in May 2024 – and at the age of 50 a few months ago – it brought the park to reconsider his health.

“To see my father, his health that the sick and the body was falling apart was a very awake call for me,” the park says. “I have a daughter, Ruby. She’s 12 years old and on an autism spectrum. Just wanting to be healthy for as long as possible, to be there for as long as possible, he really hit me.”

So he had to work. The park started training and led his first marathon in New York in November – something he says never occurred to him until he approached the 50’s.

“This is part of the reason why I decided to apply for a marathon, give myself a goal, and also prove to myself that even in this age I can do difficult things,” explains the park, now 51. “That was a spark for me.”

He trained for a big race research and running with friends. Despite the fear of guessing the terrible “wall”, he never did.

“I was very aware of the fuel during running, I was careful to stay hydrated throughout the time and I was very careful about these things,” he remembers. “When I led him, my goal was to just finish him. In any way, I just finish. My second goal was not to stop or walk. I just wanted to run constantly run [and] I was able to do that. ”

Although his days may be “unpredictable” because of his hectic schedule, the park – which plays in Netflix’s new murder mystery Residence And CBS -ovi Watsonwhere he plays the iconic Sherlock Holmes villain Moriarty – is strict in accordance with training, even if he has to break it into several parts during the day. He runs a fitness magazine, where he writes all the injuries he has suffered and the progress he noticed.

AND Fresh from the ship Alum admits that he is still “pretty bad in an aspect of nutrition”, but he always leans naturally “protein heavy meals” with “lots of greenery and vegetables”.

“I don’t eat a lot of sweet things,” he adds. “I just had never been too big with desserts.”

Although openly admits, “I had pizza last night. I am more careful than strict.”

The new workout routine park also gave him an incentive for mental health.

“I have more energy to be physically active and fit, but for my mind it is as much for my body. It maintains me optimistic and optimistic,” he says. “It was also really fun. I probably wouldn’t have been held not.”

Another thing she entertains is currently acting at Shondaland Who, as a special FBI agent, Edwin Park, along with the Samo Adubo as a detective Cordelia Cupp, who is running an investigation after a dead body appeared in the White House during a state dinner.

“It’s just a really fun play,” he says Residence. In addition to “adore” working with Adubo, he pushes himself about “complex” acting roles, which also includes Giancarlo Esposito, Susan Kelechi Watson, Jason Lee, Ken Marino and Bronze Pinchot.

“It’s a rare thing, but everyone on the show is just that beautiful. We’ve all become very close,” he says. “To this day we are all friends, we keep in touch, we have a text chain. When we are in the cities of each other, [we’ll] Grab lunch. It was such a nice experience with so many great people. ”

As the park approaches the first anniversary of his father’s death, he hopes that the “continuation of good health” that inspired, as well as the possibilities to do “more things I have not done before,” he says.

“New occasions, colleagues and friends. It’s one of the great things about what I do, whether it’s constantly meeting new people,” he continues. “It’s just a pretty amazing thing to be in your 50’s and make new friends.”

He will also take more simple things in life, such as spending time at home with his daughter and wife, Jae Suh Suh Park. “Just be happy,” he says. “Be as happier as possible.”
