The Emmy-winning actor, who has an estimated net worth of more than $40 million, is said to have made the decision when financiers refused to pay three extra days of filming for the indie film. Initial funding for the film could only cover 27 days of shooting, instead of the required 30 days. Because of not being able to earn money for the past three days, Jon Hamm and director Greg Mottola have agreed to give up part of their salaries to make up for the financial imbalance.
Greg Mottola discussed the fee reduction in an interview with Uproxx (via IndieWire) on Thursday, September 22. He stated:
“Essentially, Jon puts 60 percent of his income back into the budget.” I got some money back, but not as much as Jon because he’s richer than me and I have three kids. We also bought three extra days of filming. We ended up spending 30 days in Boston and one day in Rome.”
Admit it, Fletch is a crime comedy based on the book of the same name by Gregory McDonald. It was released in a short theatrical run on September 16, 2022, and is currently available to watch on demand. The film will also premiere on Showtime on October 28, 2022.
