Among other features, Snapchat allows users to check who has viewed their Stories. As the platform that pioneered the concept of disappearing messages, Snapchat has come a long way. Now, people use Snapchat not only to send photos and short videos through chat, but also to post many user-visible stories.
Launched nine years ago, Stories have become an integral part of the Snapchat experience. Creating a Snapchat Story is relatively simple – all a user has to do is open the Snap camera, click on a picture or video, and tap “My Story.” Snapchat also generates revenue by placing ads between stories in the “Discover” section of the app.
Snapchatters can send photos or videos to each other as Snaps, or post stories that are visible 24 hours a day, similar to how Instagram Stories and WhatsApp Status work. Snapchatters can also see who has viewed their Stories and the total number of views. To see who viewed their Snapchat stories, users should open their profile by tapping their avatar in the upper left corner of the home screen, then tap My Stories. When Snapchat previews a story, the view number is displayed in the lower left corner of the display. Then, by swiping up on the screen, Snapchatter can see the names of people who have viewed their stories. On the official support page, the platform also mentioned that people will only see the names of the first 200 users who encounter Snapchat Story.
Here’s how to change the visibility of your Snapchat Stories
By default, Snapchat stories are only visible to friends. However, just like WhatsApp allows users to hide profile pictures or statuses from certain people, Snapchat has a similar feature. To change the visibility of your Snapchat Stories, tap your profile avatar, tap the gear icon in the upper right corner to open the Settings section, and find the Privacy Controls option. Select “View My Story” and choose between the three options available on the following screen. The first option is “Everyone,” selecting this option will give everyone on the platform access to the user’s story. The second option is “Friends Only”. As mentioned earlier, it’s enabled by default and shows stories to friends added by the user. The third option is “Custom,” which allows users to block specific friends from viewing their stories.
To engage people on the platform and make the experience fun, Snapchat will also show if someone has taken a screenshot of a Story. Recently, Team Snap launched a paid version of the social platform called Snapchat+, where users pay $3.99 per month for exclusive features. For example, Snapchat+ subscribers can pin friends as “#1 BFF” at the top of chats, make calls and chats via the web version, and see how many users are rewatching their Snapchat Stories. Team Snap promises to continue adding new features to Snapchat+ in the future.
