PlayStation 5 is getting full Discord integration in a new system software update, allowing players to connect to their Discord servers and use voice chat on their console. Discord integration on Sony’s flagship console is said to have been in the works for a while. However, despite being included in this software update, the process of linking PlayStation Network and Discord accounts is still a bit technical. Additionally, due to some issues with Discord’s integration with the PlayStation Network, players may have difficulty trying to get Discord working.
Xbox players have enjoyed Discord integration since last year, and the setup process on the PlayStation 5 is similar in many ways. Players must link their Discord account to the PlayStation Network before they can transfer their voice chats to the console. To get Discord up and running, players must ensure their PlayStation 5 console has the latest system update downloaded and installed. They also need to sign in to Discord on a PC or mobile device.
How to connect and use Discord on PlayStation 5
The official Discord blog post about PS5 integration instructs players to link their accounts via PC, but it’s actually easier to go through the account linking process on PlayStation 5. So, after setting up a PlayStation 5 console, players should follow these steps:
- Step 1: Go to the “Settings” menu and select the “Users & Accounts” tab on the left.
- Step 2: Selecting the Linked Services tab allows players to link their PlayStation Network account to a variety of other services, including Discord.
After selecting Discord, players will be prompted to link their accounts and accept some terms and conditions. A new screen will then appear asking the player to log into discord.com/activate on a web browser and enter the screen code or scan the QR code on the screen to log in using the Discord mobile app.
If done correctly, a prompt will appear asking the player to grant access. Granting access will link the two accounts together. However, players will need to take a few extra steps to be able to chat with friends in the background and enjoy their new PSVR2 rig. After linking an account, players should open the Discord app on their PC or mobile device and start or join a voice chat. When joining a voice chat on the mobile app, players should swipe up and tap Join on PlayStation, then tap the Join Call button on PlayStation to move the Discord voice chat to the dashboard. their controller.
.On a PC, they need to click the icon with the smartphone and game controller icons, then click “Switch to PlayStation”. This will open a new window where players can select their PS5 console and transfer their Discord voice chat to that console. From there, players will be able to get their latest PlayStation Plus games and chat with their Discord friends in a new cross-platform harmony.
