How To Factory Reset Your Sonos Speaker: Roam, Move, & More

With One, Roam and Move, Sonos has something for everyone who wants to purchase a portable speaker or a home sound system. The devices produce decent sound quality, are easy to use, and can take voice commands with the help of the newly launched Sonos voice assistant. However, every once in a while, Sonos speakers need to be reset by users.

There are several reasons for which users might want to reset their Sonos speakers. For instance, the device might stop working or users might not be able to play music on the device. In addition, the user could be relocating and need to connect the Sonos speaker to a new Wi-Fi connection or sell the speaker to someone else. In any of the given scenarios, users will need to reset their Sonos speakers.

First, to reset Sonos Roam and Sonos Roam SL, press the power button on the device and hold for five seconds to turn it off. Both Sonos Roam and Sonos Roam SL turn off with a chime, and the LED lights on the front of the devices also go off. Once the device is off, press and hold the play/pause button, and while holding it, press and release the power button once. Keep holding the play/pause button until the light on the speaker flashes in orange and white colors. After a few seconds, the light will go green, indicating that the speaker is reset and ready to set up again.

Reset Sonos Move And Other Models

The steps to reset Sonos Move are different than the ones described above. To reset Sonos Move, take the speaker off its charging base and turn it off by pressing (for at least five seconds) the power button at the back. While holding the Join button, press and release the power button once. Hold the Join button until the light on top of the speaker starts flashing in orange and white until it finally turns green, indicating that the device has been reset. Users can set it up once the Sonos Move is ready to reset.

Users can reset all the Sonos speakers except the Roam/Roam SL and Move with the following method. To begin, unplug the power cord and hold the Join button while simultaneously reconnecting the power cord. For the speakers who do not have a Join button, users can hold the play/pause or the mute button while reconnecting the power cord. Next, hold the button until the light on the Sonos speaker flashes in an orange and white, which ultimately turns green, indicating that the device has been reset. Once done, users can pair their Sonos Bluetooth speakers with the devices they want.
