In May 2021, Ridoi Babu/Babo was arrested along with two women and four other men namely Mohammed Baba Sheikh, Rakibul Islam Sagar, Hakil in the case of sexual assault of a Bangladeshi girl in Kerala, India. Ridoi posted a video on social media in which he and four other men were sexually assaulting a girl. Later, it was discovered that two women helped Ridoi to involve the girl in human trafficking. After the video went viral on social media, the Bengaluru police immediately identified Ridoi from his social media accounts and started further investigation into the matter. Later, all four men involved in the case were arrested and a case was filed against six people, including four men and two women, at the Ramamurti Nagar Police Station in Bengaluru.

Bangalore police said that when the four men were taken to the police station, they tried to escape and attacked the police, who shot Hridoy and Sagar in the knee in self-defense. The victim’s father said in an interview with reporters,
About a year ago, she met her husband’s friend, Hridoy, in Moghbazar and told me that he would help her find a job abroad with her husband. I tried to stop her, but she went anyway.”
The Bangladeshi police, along with the Bangalore police, took strict action against the perpetrators. Indian journalist Pratibha Raman tweeted:
A nirbhaya-like incident has occurred in Bengaluru. Six days ago, a 22-year-old girl was gang-raped by four persons in NRI Colony. Another lady was present along with the accused. All of them, including the victim, were illegal immigrants from Bangladesh, allegedly involved in prostitution. There was allegedly a personal vendetta. The accused have been arrested.”
On May 27, 2021, the Delhi chapter of the Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) wrote to India’s Home Minister Amit Shah, urging him to take strict action against the perpetrators. Speaking to Bangladeshi journalists, Hriday’s mother and uncle said they had kicked him out of the house a few years ago for his bad behavior.
