Causing a backlash from fans, many shared their thoughts on Twitter and it looks like Hugh stole the show! “Have you lived until you see #HughGrant as #OompaLoompa? That’s cute! Looking forward to seeing #Wonko if we go to #CHRISTmas,” one person tweeted.
“Am I going to watch Wonka just for Hugh Grant’s Oompa-Loompa? Yes, I think I will,” another commented. A third agreed: “Really, no one else can oompaloopa work as hard as Hugh Grant.

Meanwhile, a fourth replied, “Hugh Grant being cast as Oompa-Loompa wasn’t what I wanted… but definitely what I needed… This looks amazing and I can’t wait to want it. see it.”
In UK theaters on December 15, 2023, Wonka boasts an all-star cast with Rowan Atkinson, Sally Hawkins, Olivia Colman, Matt Lucas and Jim Carter appearing in the trailer.

Timothée Chalamet also talks about her role as the chocolate maker of the same name. Speaking to British Vogue in September 2022, he said: “This movie is so authentic, so playful. When asked how many musicals he has appeared in, the 27-year-old replied: “Seven!”

As for Hugh, the original star’s role of Oompa-Loompa was confirmed in April. After releasing a preview clip at CinemaCon 2023 in Las Vegas, Timothée was full of praise for her co-star.
“I think this is the first time people see Hugh Grant as an Oompa Loompa,” he said. “It’s been a journey. Hugh is one of our greats… it’s been a dream to work with him.”
