I like to use fresh garlic in my dishes, but the smell that lingers on my fingers for days is, well, disgusting. Luckily, after whipping up my favorite soup recipe one night, I’d had enough and found a solution every cook should have – and it’s only $5.
While searching for a garlic tool to solve my problem, I came across a TikTok video of one of my favorite food creators using the Joie Garlic Dicer and immediately added it to my Walmart pickup order. I can’t believe I’ve been without him for so long. Not only does it help me chop fresh garlic without smelly and messy hands, but it also saves me a lot of time because it produces uniform pieces with a simple press. Grab one for $5 just in time for cozy fall meals and holiday cooking.
Joie Garlic Chopper with Stainless Steel Blade

$5 at Walmart I’ve worked at Walmart for 2+ years and these are the Christmas decorations I buy early – all $30 or less
The garlic chopper has a lid with a grid on top that pushes the peeled cloves through the stainless steel blades, allowing them to drop into a clear storage container below. It’s really as simple as placing a peeled garlic clove on the blade and pushing down, and depending on the size of the clove, you can even dice two or three at a time. It’s also equally functional for grinding shallots, so when I use both ingredients, meal prep goes by quickly — and I don’t have to worry about rough fingers or watery eyes.

What’s even more convenient is that if you chop more garlic than you need for the recipe, you can save it by adding olive oil to the bottom and storing it in the refrigerator. In fact, I like to do this before making homemade dressings and sauces because I find it makes them extra delicious.
Although the device is not dishwasher safe, it is easy to clean by hand, which I prefer because I use it so often. The bottom tank just needs a quick wash with soap and warm water, and before you do the same with the lid, simply remove the white piece from the grate to get rid of any debris caught in the tines. Unlike my fingers, the smell of garlic does not linger on any part of the tool after washing.
Many other home cooks have praised this little gadget for transforming their meal preparation, with one person saying it was a lifesaver and another calling it a kitchen game changer. Additionally, several people with arthritis in their hands approve of the Joie Dicer, including one who said it’s much easier to use than typical garlic presses.
Add a Joie Garlic Clove to your virtual cart today and get on with creating flavorful, delicious meals without the dreaded smelly fingers or the tedious chore of mincing. You can check out other highly rated garlic presses available at Walmart below.
