A REDDIT user reposted the popular optical illusion on the social network and asked other users for advice.
The vision-altering image was posted on the r/opticalillusions Reddit thread.

Reddit user Jon_Starkgaryen wrote: “I stared at this for a long time, crossed my eyes and focused a lot and now my vision has been terrible for a year and a half.
“I went to an optician and an ophthalmologist, nothing was wrong with either of them.
“My actual vision is good, but it’s like I’m getting burned by everything I see.
“Has anyone ever experienced anything like this and have any possible treatments because it’s driving me crazy.”
At first glance, the illusion looks quite simple, consisting only of gray cubes and green lines.
If you look closely, you’ll notice that some of the lines look curved before they look straight again.
The line above the gray squares reads: “Go ahead, find the curved line.”
It’s much harder than it sounds.
There doesn’t seem to be any way to ‘solve’ the puzzle any way you look at it.
This illusion relies on strategic placement of colors and shapes to trick your brain into seeing curves that aren’t there.
Illusionist Michael Bach offered an explanation on his blog.
He wrote: “This brilliant design is by illustrator Lesh Porche (USA). When it appeared it went viral and I thank Jeremy Hinton of Lilac Hunters for alerting me.
“My explanation is this: “The tiles contain a low-resolution luminance curve, which is masked by all boundaries.
“It can be made more noticeable by applying a small amount of blur (4–5). Blur occurs automatically in our visual system, because – mostly imperceptibly – our visual resolution drops off rapidly from the center of view: at an eccentricity of 10° our visual acuity is 1/10 of central .
“However, the periphery doesn’t “feel” blurry, does it? Its sharpness is “invented” by our visual system, just as our blind spots are “filled in”.
Bach’s theory suggests that the lines in the illusion are not actually curved the way your brain tells you.
Fans of the optical illusion praised it in a recent Recent publication.
One wrote: “This is by far the best optical illusion I’ve seen on Reddit. It’s amazing how easily your mind infers things from your peripheral vision.”
Another said, “Yeah, no, it just looks rounded, just look at one line and follow it, it should be straight.”
