Ian Ziering ‘Thankful’ to be ‘Completely Unscathed’ After Attack by Bikers on New Year’s Eve

Ian Ziering has spoken out about an alleged brawl he was involved in with several bikers in Los Angeles on New Year’s Eve.

Breaking his silence about the incident on Monday, Ziering, 59, said in a video posted to Instagram that he was grateful he and his daughter Mia, 12, escaped unharmed in the alleged altercation.

Set to Coldplay’s “A Sky Full of Stars,” Ziering shared the statement alongside a smiling photo of himself and captioned the post with the same message.

“Yesterday I experienced an alarming incident involving a group of individuals on mini bikes,” his post began. “While I was stuck in traffic, my car was aggressively approached by one of these drivers, leading to a disturbing confrontation. In an attempt to assess the damage, I got out of the car. This procedure, unfortunately, escalated into a physical confrontation, which I entered to protect myself.”

Former Beverly Hills, 90210 The star went on to say that he was “relieved to report that my daughter and I are completely unharmed”, but added that the incident had left him “deeply concerned about the increasing audacity of such groups who disrupt public safety and peace”.

“This situation highlights the larger problem of hooliganism on our streets and the need for effective law enforcement responses to such behavior,” he continued. “As a citizen and a parent, I find it unacceptable that groups can freely engage in this kind of behavior, causing fear and chaos, while the response from the authorities seems insufficient.”

Ziering added that he wants to “make sure our streets are safe for everyone.”

“I call on city officials and the police to take decisive action against such lawlessness and provide the necessary resources to prevent future occurrences,” he continued.

The actor concluded the post by saying, “I’m grateful for the support of my family, friends and fans during this time. It is precisely in challenging moments like these that the strength and unity of our community are most important. Happy New Year.”

The incident was first reported by TMZ. In a video obtained by the magazine, Ziering’s vehicle appears to be surrounded by a group of people riding mini-bikes on Hollywood Blvd. Ziering then got out of his car and appeared to get into a physical altercation with one of the motorcyclists.

Shortly after Ziering and the person began fighting, other motorcyclists in the group returned and surrounded the star, with one appearing to crash his bike into Ziering. The group then all started attacking Shark of the actor, who appeared to be running away from the group as he tried to cross a busy road.

According to TMZ footage, Ziering was chased by the group and allegedly grabbed by the shirt, pushed into another vehicle and punched multiple times.

In another video posted by TMZ on Monday, Ziering appeared to comfort Mia, who appeared to be upset by the incident involving her father.

Along with Mia, Ziering is also the father of a daughter, Penne, with his ex-wife, Erin Ludwig.

The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed to CW affiliate KTLA that officers responded to the area of ​​Hollywood Blvd and Highland Ave. around 3pm local time on Sunday after “reports of a fight that broke out after a group of motorcyclists were driving recklessly.”

According to information, the investigation into the incident is still ongoing.

The LAPD and representatives for Ziering did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s requests for comment Monday.
