If you can spot gecko in 8 seconds, you’re a master in disguise… and smarter than most

THOSE who managed to spot a gecko camouflaging itself inside an amazing optical illusion are probably smarter than most.

Geckos are known as avid masters of disguise, quickly blending in with their surroundings to avoid predators and surprise prey.

The reptile’s ability to change the color of the pigments within its smooth, transparent skin is achieved through cells called chromatophores, DOGO News writes.

The cells automatically detect what the background color is and match it.

Geckos will also camouflage themselves in most photos.

Even so, in one image taken by photographer Dave Bagshaw and obtained by the Mercury Press, some of those viewers with the sharpest eyes and highest IQs managed to spot a gecko named Luna, the Daily Mail reports.

In the puzzle, you can clearly see a tree branch in the background, but at first glance Luna seems to be nowhere.

Those looking for a challenge and eager to test their intelligence should set a timer for eight seconds before looking at the picture.

Finishing under the allotted time limit would place the viewer in the first percentile to find the wily gecko.

Are you ready to find Luna?

Set the timer and get ready to search for the elusive reptile.

Prepare carefully now!

Were you able to locate her? If not, don’t worry.

Reset the timer with a few more seconds added and try again.

Those who still can’t find Luna should rely on the gecko’s expert hiding skills and find the answer key The US Sun has placed at the bottom of the page.

Geckos like Luna can hide from even the sharpest gaze of birds of prey like eagles, hawks and owls.

It also stays hidden from other predators like rats and snakes.

Reptiles often prey on insects such as mosquitoes and crickets.

US Sun also has a few illusions for those who want to test their skills and find another animal hidden in the natural habitat.

Some viewers might see if they have 20/20 vision if they locate another cat within a seemingly simple image.

In the picture, one cat is in plain view, sitting on a chair to the left, but the other feline friend is seemingly nowhere to be found.

About 99 percent of people have failed to find another cat – can you?
