The fast moving images will make you think about how the beautiful faces change in a shocking way.

If you focus directly on the faces on either side of the red cross, you’ll see that they look normal and traditionally attractive.

However, if you look directly at the cross in the middle, the faces will be distorted.

According to NBC News, Australian researcher Matthew B Thompson discovered the visual trick while working on an unrelated photographic experiment.

The distortion you see is caused by the many differences between each face and the next.

For example, one tanned face will make the next pale in comparison.

Also, a squinty-eyed face will make the one that comes after it look like it’s bug-eyed.

“By lining up the face with the eyes and rendering them quickly, it becomes much easier to compare them, so the differences between the faces are more extreme,” Thompson told NBC News.

“If someone has a big jaw, they almost look like a stray dog. If they have a particularly large forehead, it looks particularly bulbous.”

The spectators of the illusion were shocked by what they saw.

One comment read: “When I first watched it, I just wondered how this team put together such grotesque or Frankensteinian faces, then when I went back to looking at only individual faces at a time, I realized that the faces were relatively normal.”

Another added: “Wow… Best illusion I’ve seen in years, maybe my life. How the hell they figured this out is beyond me. It’s amazing!”
