I’m A Celebrity fans shocked as Dean McCullough becomes second star to leave the jungle

DEAN McCullough has become the second camper to be booted from I’m A Celebrity tonight.

The 32-year-old BBC Radio 1 DJ got the boot after spending 17 days in the Australian jungle.

Speaking about his time at the camp, Dean told Ant & Dec: “I really, really soaked up this whole experience, all the trials, you know, the things that I faced. I was stuck at the camp, I did a little bit of everything, and I really I really, really enjoyed it.

“And when I woke up this morning, I thought, if I go today, I was over the top because I didn’t miss anything.”

Dean quickly became a target of the Bushtucker Trial voting public for his relentless screaming and temper tantrums during challenges.

They nominated him for six trials in a row – they gave up on two, shouting: “I’m a celebrity, get me out of here!”.

He finally got the night off when viewers chose Sun columnist Jane Moore and former Hunt Islander Maura Higgins instead.

Dean was no stranger to drama at camp either.

He sparked the Teagate saga after smuggling tea bags into the jungle and making drinks for others.

The campers were punished by their bosses who took away half of the ten cupcakes they won at the challenge of radio DJ Melvin Odoom (44).

Dean also clashed with Corrie actor Alan Halsall, 42, who woke him up to make him do his chores.

And he was tormented by his last task of collecting water for the camp, whining about how hard it was.

Tensions are high on I’m A Celebrity as the camp turns on Dean McCollough – and he’s left speechless by his new moniker

Melvin, who was on water duty with Dean, said he was “very good at disappearing” – and called him “Hou-Deani”.

But Dean defended his efforts in camp, saying Melvin “never talked to him” about not pulling his weight.

“Melvin never came up to me and said, buddy, can you go and do a couple of those runs,” he said. “I did, I think it was six attempts in a row, and he saw me sleeping and left me sleeping because he didn’t want to wake me up.

“I didn’t ask him to. He’s just a nice guy. But then don’t come back and be like ‘you didn’t do anything’.”

Speaking about what he learned while at camp, Dean said: “I learned that life is better when it’s simpler. You really, really don’t need to be on the phone all the time. You don’t need to be looking for the next deal, the next meeting, the next gig …

“You can literally just sit in the moment and just watch what happens.”

He also backed GK Barry to win this year’s series before reuniting with his mum, Ann, across the drawbridge back to reality.

I’m a Celebrity continues weekdays at 9pm on ITV.
