I’m A Celeb’s Jamie Lynn Spears’ husband Jamie Watson was sued after three killed when his truck blocked major motorway

JAMIE Lynn Spears’ husband has been charged with causing a fatal crash that killed three people when his truck blocked a major highway.

Jamie Watson’s unsecured trailer truck became stuck in a ditch while turning onto a private driveway, blocking both directions on US-51 near Fluker, Louisiana, where the family lives, according to legal documents obtained by The Sun.

While the oncoming 18-wheeler — driven by a man named Corey David — was able to stop in time, another driver, Kaleb Collette, allegedly sped off in his Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck and ended up hitting David from behind, according to the lawsuit, which is now settled satisfied.

The horrific crash resulted in the deaths of Collette, 28, and his passengers Lee Ross, 27, and Kenneth Parnell, 27.

Details of the accident emerged while Britney Spear’s sister, Jamie Lynn, who has been married to Watson (41) since 2014, was in the Australian jungle starring in this year’s I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here.

Tragedy struck on July 11, 2016, and a year later, 18-wheeler David, who suffered physical and mental injuries, filed a lawsuit against Watson, Kaleb’s mother, Melinda Collette, and the insurance companies involved, including the insurer of his own rental truck. .

Watson’s trucking business, Fluker Transportation LLC, were also co-defendants.

David blamed Collette in his petition, but also stated that “the collision was caused solely by gross and flagrant recklessness, negligence, carelessness and fault [Jamie] Watson” and cited eight road offences, including “obstructing a busy road in a criminally negligent manner”.

A copy of what David described as Fluker Transportation’s policy with his insurers was filed as court evidence, which according to court reports included an exclusion form signed by Watson, stating that “none of the insurance coverage provided by this policy” will apply to him.

The lack of insurance appears to have helped remove Watson from the lawsuit, which David’s insurers eventually settled.

A dispute raged between David and his insurers over who was at fault, with the latter keen to pin the blame on Watson, legal documents show.

‘NO ONE TO BLAME’

There were no allegations related to the accident, and the police report stated that no one was at fault.

Watson was eventually dismissed by David’s attorneys, who stated in a court document that “the Silverado driven by Kaleb Collette was found to be 100% at fault and completely uninsured.”

The document added: “It was also learned that the vehicle was a Fluker [driven by Jamie Watson] bore no responsibility for the incident in question … the plaintiffs’ attorneys dropped Fluker from the suit.”

David’s insurance company, Nationwide, demanded in legal documents that he be allowed to “proceed with the claim he knows he has against Fluker,” stating that “if Fluker’s vehicle had not gone into the ditch and blocked the roadway, the accident in question would not have occurred. “

Five years after the accident, in May 2021, the case was finally settled between David and Nationwide.

LAW OF THE GRIEVING DAD

Jamie’s company, Fluker Transportation, was also sued for damages by the father of one of the accident victims, who blamed Watson and David for the accident, but that case was also settled.

He and Jamie Lynn had been married for just under two years at the time of the accident.

A few years later, the couple had a five-year-old daughter, Ivey Joan.

Jamie Lynn, who also has daughter Maddie Briann Aldridge, 15, with ex-partner Casey Aldridge, opened up about her teenage pregnancy to co-star Fred Sirieix during Monday night’s show.

CAMP CONFESSIONS

She told her comrade Fred: “They didn’t want me to have a baby. A lot of people around me”, and that she had to “hide” for a long time and moved to Mississippi.
