Coote also admitted that “not sober” in his anger of former Liverpool chief Jurgen Klopp, and threats of abuse and death as ref.
The fired 42-year-old said living him had brought him a series of paths that eventually torpedo his career.
Coote said The Sun: “I felt a deep shame, especially during my teenage years.
“I didn’t go out to my parents until the age of 21. I didn’t go out to my friends for my 25 years.
“My sexuality is not the only reason I was to be in that position. But I don’t tell an authentic story if I don’t say I’m gay and I had the right fight to hide it.
“I hid my emotions as a young refce and hid my sexuality – good quality as a judge, but a terrible quality as a human being.
“And that led me to all behavior.”
He says he was in an “incredibly dark place” since news of his drugs in Euro 2024 appeared without his family and colleagues, he added: “I’m not sure I would be here today.”
Giving his first interview since the scandal broke down, he said he hoped to help break the “Macho World” of the Premier League football.
He added, “I had problems about my self-esteem-it is about my sexuality. I am gay and struggled with the feeling that I am proud to be ‘I’ over a long period of time.

“I received deeply embarrassing abuse during my career as ref. And add my sexuality to that would be really difficult.
“A lot of this can be done throughout the football, and wider in society with respect to discrimination.
“I did not want to be that person who put the head above the parapet that is being fired, given the abuse that we all get in any case as a judge.”
Coote was suspended last October, after the recording showed him that he was calling the then Liverpool chief Jurgen Klopp “C ***”.

Coote was then the subject of a new probe for FA for allegedly issuing a yellow card on order – before he was eventually fired.
In an emotional interview, he says that the “pressure stove” of suppressed emotions, combined with the punishment schedule of work, left him to “escape” cocaine.

He said, “It’s not something I relied day after day, week after week, month to month.
“I had long periods where I didn’t use it – but it was one of the outskirts. It just moves away from stress, the ruthlessness of the job. It fills me with a huge sense of shame to say that I started that route.”
He recalled: “2023. I lost my mom very suddenly. At the same time, my uncle was diagnosed with a disease of motor neurons. After the Coida and the introduction of VAR, there were six officials at once.
“FIFA selected me as the U17 World Cup in Indonesia, as well as the Euro and the Olympic Games last year.
“This meant that during the 2023-24 season I was involved in more than 90 games-often back. At the end of last season, I went straight to the euros and that was amazing under pressure. I immediately appeared another tournament – I went to Paris to the Olympics. “
In the cocaine recording, they saw him inhale 4in lines of the US banknotes. The second picture showed its bank card next to six chopped lines.

He said, “I don’t recognize myself in a cocaine video. I can’t resonate with how I felt then, but it was me. I fought the schedule and there was no possibility of stopping. And so I found myself in that position – fled. “
Coote is still questioned after a friend told him that he puts money on Leeds’ player Ezgjan Alioski reserved before the 2019 conflict against West Broma.
Coote warned the player and later sent his friend: “I hope you supported yourself as discussed.” However, he told Sun: “There was no agreement before the game. I went and did the job. The player committed a yellow card.”
He added, “I have not received anything for it. I am really disappointed that anything has come out, because it stuns the integrity of the game. And whatever people think of me as a referee, as a man, I always went out and did my best on the field.”
Coote says he was just trying to “reject” a friend, but he admitted, “I wasn’t in a great place, and I told people that, backwards, I shouldn’t have believed. I was naive.” Coote says he “brought some really bad choices And I really wish I could get the clock back now and work differently. “
But he said he could take responsibility instead. After looking for therapy, he hit his habit of drug

Coote said, “I put on this hard exterior. Football has become a place where I could go to the referee and be preoccupied with playing.
“But then I would come home and it would be harder because I live a double feeling.
“Other people who are in my situation, I would say you seek help and talk to someone, because if you suffer it as if I did it, it must go out in some way.”
‘Bad choices’
Coote believes that the dramatic events that cost him his beloved football job helped him to spice up.
He said, “It was incredibly difficult because I loved the game. I started judging when I was 14 years old.
“It was easier for me because I found out my destiny and was able to reconsider what was important to me.
“Spend some quality time with family and friends and take the time to make sure I’m in the best place to move forward.”
‘It’s a very brave move’

“It’s very bold for anyone to come out, but even more for someone from the public eye.
“This will affect David Coote and is a big step, but it should have less effect on the player. This is not the same level of fame.”
Amal, whose ex -uncle Norwich Uncle killed himself in 1998 after becoming the first top player to go out, added: “We would love to talk to him at the Foundation.
“We would be there to offer any support and counseling.
“We also help people with mental health problems and we would be there for him if this is a problem.
“There is still something wrong on top of football.
“We are 2025, when everyone is allegedly liberal and accepted, but something stops these people who accept who they are. Football still fails in this regard.”
