In an interview, he revealed that he had no chance to make friends with girls because his parents didn’t allow him to date during high school. He also shared a story about a time when he went against his mother’s wishes in an unusual way. He said,
My parents were the kind of people who were always like, “Oh, you can do whatever you want after college.” It was my parents’ anniversary, so I decided to go shopping for gifts, and I happened to be with a girl Friends together. I didn’t think much of it because I wasn’t thinking about dating, so when I went to pick out gifts, she went with me. I came home and gave my mom a gift and told her how I went shopping with my friends to buy gifts. Instead of being happy with the gift, she just focused on the fact that I went with a girl and wasn’t happy about it. I thought to myself, “Well, I’m never going to date.” Now that I’m older and in the entertainment industry, she always says, ‘You must have beautiful girls around you, when are you going to date?’ ‘”
