If I am at this stage today, then all the credit goes to my sister Aruna Irani. After the death of their mother in childhood, sister Aruna Irani raised seven siblings. To me, she is nothing less than a goddess. Even today, when I see a working woman, I bow my head in respect. ”

In 2007, Indra directed the critically acclaimed comedy film Dhamaal. The film stars Sanjay Dutt, Ritesh Deshmukh, Ashish Choudhary, Arshad Warsi and Javed Jafri. In 2022, Indra Kumar, Ajay Devgn and Sidharth Malhotra were cast in Hindi film Thank God The police registered a case alleging that the film had hurt the religious sentiments of the Kayasa community. According to sources, the case was filed after Himanshu Sharma, a lawyer based in Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh, filed a petition in the Jaunpur Civil Court. Srivastava said in the petition filed that Ajay Devgn, who plays Chitra Gupta in the film, used objectionable language in a scene of the film. The petition reads,
Chitragupta is considered the lord of karma, recording a person’s good and bad deeds. This depiction of God may create unpleasant situations as it hurts religious sentiments. “
Indra Kumar faces backlash for recreating Mungda from album Total Dhamaal (2019)
In 2019, Indra Kumar and the music composer faced backlash from the audience for recreating the song “Mungda” from the Hindi film Total Dhamaal (2019). The song is adapted from Helen’s song in the film “Inkaar” (1977). It is composed by music composer Rajesh Roshan and sung by Lata Mangeshkar and her sister Usha Mangeshkar. In an interview, music director Rajesh Roshan and singers Usha and Lata Mangeshkar slammed the composer for plagiarizing their classic songs. Later, in an interview, Indra Kumar responded to all the accusations and said:
Lack of musical originality and talent is an understatement. We don’t have to ask for their permission. When Neend Churayi Meri was being remade, no one came to me for approval. The rights belong to the record companies and they have the right to do what they want. It never hurts to follow trends. This generation has been deprived of those beautiful songs. Our job is to pass the gems on to them. Today’s generation doesn’t realize this yet. My kids hadn’t heard the original until I made them listen to the new version, and they loved it. ”

- In an interview, Indra Kumar talked about his film Thank You (2022) and revealed that people warned him not to cast Sidharth Malhotra in the film because of the actor’s No experience in the comedy genre. Discussing the same issue, Indra Kumar said:
Everything he does in this movie, his reactions, he does it beautifully. Someone would ask me before, why him, can he do comedy? I told them he could, 100%. Do people doubt you? “The director joked, “It’s not me, it’s him.” “He has never acted in a comedy. He is a cute boy. “
- In an interview, Indra Kumar talked about his career as a director and expressed regret not working with Amitabh Bachchan. Indra said,
I regret not working with Shri Amitabh Bachchan. “Actually, it was my mistake that I decided to do two films at the same time… ‘Ishq’ and ‘Rishta’. So I quickly signed Amitabh Bachchan for Rishta. When we performed Rishta’s muhurat, Ishq was already on the floor. That’s when I realized I couldn’t handle two movies at the same time. This all happened because of me…it was my fault. But Amitabh Bachchan was very thoughtful and told me “theek hai aap Ishq kar lijiye tab tak main Mrutyudaata ki Shooting Complete kar Leta Hoon”.
