Indravathi Chauhan is an Indian playback singer primarily known for her blockbuster songs in the Telugu film industry. She became an internet sensation after singing the hit single “Oo Antava Mava Oo Antava” for the movie Pushpa: The Rise (2021).

Indravathi Chauhan was born in 2000 (21 years old; as of 2021) in Guti, Anantpur District, Andhra Pradesh. She comes from the Banjara community, which prefers girls to marry before the age of 12 and wants them to have a son. She came from very humble beginnings and once had a house with no bathroom, so they had to go to a neighbor’s house to bathe. She had never received professional singing training and received her diploma from Sri Venkateswara College in Ananthapur.

Parents and siblings
Not much is known about her parents. She has 2 sisters, her elder sister Satyavathi Rathod (better known as Mangli) is also a famous playback singer and anchor in India. Mangli sang the Kannada version of the Indravti song “Oo Antava Mava Oo Antava”. She also has a brother Shiva.

Profession
Although Indravathi does not have a background in classical singing, she appeared on a folk singer show hosted by her sister Mangali. When music director Devi Sri Prasad, also known as DSP, was looking for fresh voices for the song “Oo Antava Mava Oo Antava”, Indravathi sent a video of her singing on the show as her audition clip. She was selected and asked to take a voice test. This is how she got her 2021 dance hit “Oo Antava Mava Oo Antava”.
Indravathi has also sung songs like “Jaji Mogulali” (2019), “Gandhasiri Vanamali” (2021), “Mai Sadke Jaun” (2021) and Chhuwan (2022) for George Reddy. She also appeared on “Bol Baby Bol” (a musical game show) as one of the judges.
Talking about her hit song ‘Oo Antava’, Indravathi said:
When I found out that I was cast in this song, I couldn’t express my joy. Mr. Devi Sri Prasad patiently taught me to sing every line and brought out the best in me. I am very grateful to the entire Pushpa team for giving me this opportunity. ”
Even Devi Sri Prasad (Music Director) gave due praise to Indravathi Chauhan for the success of the song and said:
She did exactly what I asked – she’s a quick study – and here we are today. ”
