Excerpts from the interview:
Q.1. Jagranjosh – How would you describe yourself? Where did you finish school and tell us something about your family?
Answer: I am Prarthana Drolia from Patna, Bihar. I’m excited to try different types of activities, whether it’s dancing or sketching, playing basketball or swimming, I love to constantly learn and explore. I finished 12th grade at Notre Dame Academy, Patna.
My family consists of a housewife mother, a businessman father and an older sister.
Q.2. Jagranjosh – What motivated you to appear in CUET UG? Did you take another entrance exam?
A: Everyone wants to secure admission to the best colleges. I want to pursue B.Com (Hons) from Shri Ram College of Commerce, University of Delhi, one of the most prestigious institute not only in the country. I had a two-month period between the board exam and the CUET entrance exam to prepare. I didn’t take any other entrance exams because I didn’t want to divert my focus from CUET even one bit.
Q.3. Jagranjosh – What is your score in CUET exam?
A: My CUET UG results are as follows
UK – 199.64
Accounting, business studies and economics – 200
Math – 167.61
General Test – 182.98
Total 799,647/800
Q.4. Jagranjosh – Why did you choose SRCC?
A: I have heard about Shri Ram College of Commerce from my friends and teachers. In addition, I also researched the universities for B.Com (Hons), I realized that the appearance of the universities is very impressive. They also have good locations. However, in addition to SRCC, I also applied to St. Xaviers College in Calcutta.
Q.5. Jagranjosh – When did you start preparing for the CUET exam?
A: I started preparing for the CUET UG exam after completing the university exam. I studied all the extracurricular programs like computer accounting and decided to give these questions a try to save me time in the exam.
P.6. Jagranjosh – What study techniques or strategies have you used that you believe contributed to your exceptional success in the CUET 2023 exam?
A: Thoroughly studying the boards really helped me a lot because the syllabus is mostly the same. Also, if you’re prepared for subjective exams, cracking an exam that’s entirely MCQ-based becomes pretty easy. I started preparing for the supplementary curriculum at CUET only after the board exam. There is a gap of about 2 months between the boards and the CUET. It is enough to cover the MCQ supplement and practice.
I completed my tutoring program first. Then I repeat each chapter and then solve the MCQ of that chapter. After completing all the chapters in this way, I solved last year’s questions sent to me by a YouTuber who is also my senior in SRCC, after filling out a Google form.
P.7. Jagranjosh – Do you have a structured study schedule or routine to prepare for CUET UG 2023, and if so, how have you managed your time effectively?
A: No, I don’t have any fixed study habits. My only goal in mind is to study each chapter, solve the MCQs for the chapters, and finally solve the previous year’s questions before the exam.
I think effective time management can only be achieved through consistency so that you don’t have to put on a heavy load right before the exam, which can cost you quality sleep as well as mental peace.
P.8. Jagranjosh – How many domains did you take the CUET exam?
A: I took English, accounting, economics, business studies, math and a general exam.
P.9. Jagranjosh – Which subject are you strongest and which subject are you weakest? Is the NCERT book enough for preparation?
Answer: I am not weak in any subject, but I prefer accounting and math because in these subjects most of them include practical questions. Even macroeconomics and microeconomics are concept-based, so relatively easier for me. Theory-based subjects like Business Studies and Indian Economic Development seem a bit boring to me. Even with preparation, scoring against them is not difficult!
P.10. Jagranjosh – How will you balance your academic commitments with extracurricular activities or personal interests in CUET 2023?
A: Because of my preparation from day one, I don’t have a lot of workload in the exam, which helps me balance my time between studying and personal interests.
P.11. Jagranjosh – Which is your dream university to attend UG program? What are your aspirations in your program area and what major would you be interested in?
A: My dream university is Shri Ram College of Commerce, University of Delhi. I want to learn more about accounting, financial management etc by pursuing B.Com (Hons). I would be interested in majoring in finance, business administration and entrepreneurship.
P.12. Jagranjosh – Going forward, what are your future aspirations and goals and how do you plan to continue your education?
Answer: I would love to be an entrepreneur! Regarding my education, I am currently preparing for Certified Public Accountant with B.Com. I am also planning to opt for CFA after graduation.
Courses like MBA, FRM etc are also important and will really help anyone build a good career! I think I will have a clear idea after I finish my studies because then I will be more aware of my interests and discover what each course offers me!
