Angela Wynter will reprise her role as Yolande Trueman later this summer in EastEnders. Yolande, who was previously a recurring character from 2003 to 2008, is the ex-wife of Patrick Trueman. Patrick left Walford earlier this year to reunite with Yolanda, who he split from in 2008.
The character of Yolande left Walford for work in Birmingham, but Angela Wynter guest starred as Yolande in 2017. Kim Medcalf will return as Sam Mitchell later this summer in EastEnders. Sam, who left Walford at the start of the year for a lucrative hotel management job in Spain, said an emotional goodbye to her son Ricky Mitchell before leaving. However, with Ricky expecting the arrival of his daughter with Lily Slater this summer, it seems like the perfect time for Sam to return.
Last we heard of Sam, she was spending time with her niece Louise Mitchell in Spain, and fans are anxiously awaiting her return to Walford.
Shirley Carter to return to EastEnders: to be confirmed (TBC)
Linda Henry, who plays beloved Shirley Carter, abruptly left EastEnders just after Christmas last year. Her departure follows the apparent death of her son Mick Carter. Shirley left the square with her dog Lady Di to stay with her daughter Carly Wicks and her family.
The last update we had on Shirley was that she was reunited with her previously estranged son, Dean Wicks, who had a troubled past involving Mick’s true love, Linda Carter. Although Linda Henry is currently on an extended break from the show and has been off screen for over six months, the BBC has confirmed that Shirley has not left the soap for good and will eventually return.
The question remains how Shirley will react to the new family at the Queen Vic, the Knights, upon her return.
