Why isn’t Life Size on Disney Plus?
“Life-Size 2,” starring Tyra Banks and originally released on FreeForm in the US, has been pulled from Disney+ in various countries, including the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom, over the past few weeks. However, it is still available on Disney+ in some regions, such as Australia.
The film revolves around the story of Grace Manning, who faces a quarter-life crisis as she struggles as a CEO, and her reckless behavior negatively affects the company’s performance. The plot takes a magical turn when Grace’s childhood doll Eva comes to life to help her regain her confidence and transform into the strong and capable woman she can be. The film also stars Francia Raisa, Gavin Stenhouse, Hank Chen, Alison Fernandez and Shanica Knowles.
Unlike some Disney+ removals due to existing contracts with other companies or limited releases, the specific reason for the removal of “Life-Size 2” remains unknown. It is possible that Disney took this action to control costs, such as reducing remaining payments to cast and crew or managing server costs. In “Life-Size,” the story revolves around Casey Stuart, a girl who plays quarterback on her school’s 7th grade football team. After her mother’s death, Casey drifts away from her old friends and often clashes with her teammate. In her longing to get her mother back, Casey discovers a book called “The Book of Awakening” at a local bookstore. This book contains the secret of raising the dead, the effect becoming permanent unless reversed before sunset on the fourth day.
However, faced with the high price of the book, Casey leaves all her money on the shelf where the book is housed in a glass case. Following the book’s instructions, Casey collects her mother’s belongings, including strands of hair from her brush. Unintentionally, the spell goes awry when Drew McDonald, who works and takes an interest in Casey’s widower, gives her an Eva doll as a birthday present. As Drew brushes the doll’s hair with the strands left on the brush, Casey inadvertently summons magic on the doll instead of her mother. The next morning, Casey finds the Eve doll transformed into a full-sized human named Eve.
Over the next few days, Eve experiences life as a real woman, embracing new experiences and helping Casey cope with the loss. She brings positive change to the people around her, including Casey’s father’s co-worker, Ellen. Despite initial tensions between Casey and Eve, they gradually become friends, with Eve offering Casey valuable insights and support. In turn, Casey guides Eve to be a popular doll and a good role model.
As the story unfolds, Casey realizes that she needs the second volume of the magic book to undo the spell. However, she forms a deep bond with Eve and decides not to buy the book when she finally arrives at the bookstore. Unfortunately, homesickness and difficulties in adapting to human life led Eva to the decision to undo the spell herself. Tearfully saying goodbye to Casey and her father, she transforms back into a doll at Marathon headquarters.
