Has Yalda Hakim been suspended from the BBC?
As of 10 July 2023, there is no information that Yalda Hakim has been suspended from the BBC. She had been in talks with BBC executives since April 2012, when she was approached at a broadcasting conference in Brisbane. The meetings continued in New York, Dubai and Afghanistan. Hakim made her first appearance on BBC World News and the BBC News Channel in March 2013.

Career of Yalda Hakim
In 2008, Hakim made a significant return to Kabul, Afghanistan, where she did her first report for Dateline. After that, she reported from various locations around the world for Dateline and SBS World News Australia.
In recognition of her exceptional work, Hakim received the 2009 Peace Prize from the United Nations Association of Australia for the best Australian television report. In addition, she was named a finalist for the Walkley Award for Young Australian Journalist of the Year.
Beginning in 2011, Hakim co-hosted Dateline alongside video journalist Mark Davis. They alternated presenting the program in roughly six-week blocks, ensuring continuous coverage even while the other was on assignment.
In 2018, the Yalda Hakim Foundation (YHF) was established with the aim of supporting the education of extremely talented young women from Afghanistan. Yalda Hakim was born on June 26, 1983 in Kabul, Afghanistan. Her family was forced to leave the country during the Soviet-Afghan War when she was only six months old. They embarked on a dangerous journey on horseback, with the help of human smugglers, and eventually reached Pakistan. After spending two years there, they immigrated to Australia in 1986 when Yalda was three years old.
Yalda attended Macarthur Girls’ High School in Parramatta, Sydney, where she was actively involved in various activities. She played the violin, held the position of sports captain and held the position of prefect. She also attended Parramatta West State School.
Her pursuit of higher education led her to enroll in a Bachelor of Media degree at Macquarie University from 2002 to 2004. During her time there, Yalda was also a member of the governing board of the Macquarie University Union. In 2005, she obtained a degree in journalism from Macleay College in Sydney.
