Ismaila Sarr was born on 25 February 1998 in the city of Saint-Louis in Senegal on the northwest coast. Ismaila Sarr was born to Abdoulaye Sarr Naar Gaad, who is known as his father, and Mariema Ba, who is known as his mother.
Sarr grew up in Saint Louis with his four siblings, Papis Sarr, Kine Sarr, Badara Sarr and Ndeye Ami Sarr. In the 1980s, Ismail Sarra’s father was a Senegalese footballer who played for the national team. His family belongs to the upper middle class. His father, who plays football, is the main source of income for the family.

- On 13 July 2016, Sarr signed a 5-year contract with FC Metz.
- On July 26, 2017, he signed a 4-year contract with Rennes. His transfer is 17 or 20 million euros.

His international career
