For the puzzle geeks among you, there’s an extra catch: you have to try to find the trickster animal in just nine seconds.

Puzzles are deliberately designed to deceive our vision and can be used as simple indicators of intelligence.

dr. Amber Johnston, a clinical psychologist in neuropsychology, said brain teasers help keep our brains active, young and have a positive effect on mental well-being.

She said: “What is well understood about the brain and mental health is that people are strongly driven to learn.

“Anything that offers new challenges and learning opportunities has been found to lead to greater well-being and enjoyment, and studies show that people prefer to choose new and challenging tasks over easy, repetitive tasks, even without a reward for engaging in any.

“Because we are naturally motivated to challenge and learn, brain teasers fit into the fun category of hobbies that can improve our mental health.”
