ITV chaos as they’re forced to pull new big budget travel show after horrific accident involving Gino D’Acampo

STAR chef Gino D’Acampo raged at TV bosses last night after a disastrous slide stunt for the big-budget travel show – and said: “It was all chaos.”

After three people found themselves in the drama, an ambulance was called, and Gino was also helped by doctors.

Last night, the 47-year-old Italian, who was filming with his friend Fred Sirieix, said: “It was the worst filming of our life.

“I’m shocked I haven’t had a call from ITV to see how I’m doing and I can’t wait to talk to them about all this.

“After 22 years of working with them, I had an accident and got sick, and I still didn’t get a phone call; I smell fish. I don’t think ITV have any idea what happened.”

The accident happened during filming of ITV’s new show Emission Impossible — and production has now been permanently halted.

The shocked cast and crew were sent home and offered counseling after the accident in Vienna, Austria on October 18.

Gino later came down with a temperature of 40.3 degrees and was bedridden – which he blames on filming “12-14 hour days” in freezing conditions.

The incident will draw comparisons with Top Gear’s Andrew “Freddie” Flintoff’s terrifying accident — which was blamed on inadequate health and safety failings.

Last night a source said: “Fred and Gino repeatedly raised health and safety concerns and were exhausted from long 12, 14-hour days in cold conditions. Earlier they filmed on a glacier.

“One stunt had Gino going down a 200-foot slide on a slide, holding a cocktail glass. He raised concerns at the top of the slide about the glass.

“He was still filming a feature for the camera when a mother and her two children rushed at a speed of 50 km/h and crashed.

“There was blood everywhere, and one of the boys had blood coming out of his mouth,

“The mum and her other child had a concussion and 911 were immediately called as Gino was treated at the scene.

“The crew was understandably shaken and filming was stopped immediately.

“ITV had a real duty of care and immediately offered counseling to anyone who may have been upset by what they had seen.

“There were echoes of Freddie Flintoff’s accident and ITV was adamant about looking after its staff.

“The next day, both Fred and Gino got sick, and Gino had a temperature of up to 40.3 degrees. Two doctors were called.

“He was prescribed antibiotics and had to stay hidden in Vienna until he was well enough to fly home.

“Gino was furious after the accident and vented his frustrations at the bottom of the slide.

The entire production has now been stopped, and the future of the series is also in doubt.

Ironically, all the crew on the show – about how to reduce your carbon footprint – were driven home. Yesterday, ITV confirmed that the series was no longer “in production”, while plans for a second series were also scrapped.

Emission Impossible is billed as a passion project for Gino and French First Dates star Fred, 51.

The couple tried to eat, sleep and travel as sustainably as possible in “inspirational” locations.

The six-part series of 30-minute episodes was supposed to tour the Croatian islands.

Production company Betty TV is said to be scrambling to recoup its costs, fearing a mounting insurance bill for the canceled shoot.

The Austrian capital was chosen as the backdrop after it was ranked as the greenest city in the world.

In a statement announcing their new show, Gino and Fred said: “We’re delighted that ITV have taken us on another action-packed adventure and we can’t wait to cook up some fantastic sustainable dishes while hopefully sparking debate around these important issues.

“We may not come up with a recipe to save the planet, but we hope to entertain, inform and inspire audiences to think about making changes in their own lives.”

This latest episode follows a turbulent year for the popular Italian.

Earlier this year, Gino quit his TV show with Fred and Gordon Ramsay after difficulties negotiating the terms of his contract.

In April, The Sun told how he was caught up in a drugs bust – which infuriated Michelin-starred chef Gordon, 56.

Gin was stopped by Border Force after he landed in Britain on Ramsay’s private jet after filming in Spain.

Gino is married to Jessica Stella Morrison with whom he has three children.

He has been a regular guest on TV shows including Celebrity Juice and three years ago took over a revamped version of ITV’s quiz show Family Fortunes.

Rap instead of killing rats

CHUCKY Gino was ITV’s golden boy for more than a decade — but his halo fell when he killed and ate a rat on I’m a Celebrity. . .

He won the show in 2009, but was involved in an unfortunate episode when he and his co-star Stuart Manning bred a rodent and turned it into risotto.

The scenes sparked outrage and the couple were charged with animal cruelty.

Gino was taken from the jungle to the police station, but was released.

ITV apologized and paid a fine of £2,000.

For a long time, he has been a favorite of viewers in the show This Morning.

From 2011 to 2014, he hosted the daily cooking program Let’s go to lunch with Gina and I, and from 2013 he hosted seven series of Gina’s Italian Escape.
