ITV’s axing of the much-loved flagship show has left fans “devastated”.
It emerged this week that the broadcaster’s Premiership Rugby Highlights show has been axed.

The show – which aired on Sundays on ITV 1 and ITV4 – was axed after TNT Sports took over the Gallagher Premiership TV rights.
The show’s demise was revealed by its former presenter, former Saracens and England star David Flatman.
On X he wrote: “For millions [of] if you ask where is the show Prem Rugby Highlights, it is gone. Well, not the kind we knew.
“It was a great run, so thanks @premrugby for the memories and sandwiches.
“Moving on with kings and queens now @rugbyontnt – happy to be in team x.”
Rugger fans across the country were left gutted by the news, with one writing on X: “Really [a] shame.
“It was a great show that gave fans of non-traditional rugby and less affluent communities a taste of the Prem.”
Another said: “Such a sad day for Prem rugby and another nail in the coffin for this once great game.

“Let’s bring this game back to amateur sport to bring it back from imminent death.”
And another said: “Very disappointing.”

One remarked: “This is a great shame.”
Another chimed in: “No terrestrial TV is another nail in the coffin of the game, shame on @premrugby and @RFU.”
However, rugby fans need not fear as ITV has secretly created a new highlights show which will air a few days after TNT airs them.
Terrestrial viewers will be able to watch highlights of the new show Gallagher Premiership Unleashed, which will air every Wednesday at 11.45am
