Ivanka Trump Celebrates Grandmother Marie’s 97th Birthday as Her Father’s Fraud Trial Heads Up

Ivanka Trump is celebrating her grandmother’s birthday amid her father’s legal troubles.

On Wednesday, the 41-year-old daughter of former President Donald Trump shared that she and her family recently celebrated her maternal grandmother Maria Zelníčkova’s 97th birthday in Miami. Ivanka announced it with a series of photos on Instagram.

“Simple shared moments define the richness of life,” she added in the description. “I appreciate every second! 🥰.”

After the former commander-in-chief, 77, was indicted in a fourth criminal investigation in August, a source told PEOPLE that members of his immediate family are not concerned about the prospect of him serving prison time.

“Everybody knows he’s not going to jail. Nobody’s worried,” the source said.

The source added that Ivanka and her husband Jared Kushner are “definitely not in hiding” and are “living on the beach” in Miami, Florida.

While Ivanka has previously announced that she will stay out of politics by not being involved in her father’s 2024 presidential campaign, a source noted that she and her husband “look like they don’t have a care in the world.”

Between the four criminal investigations, Trump faces a total of 91 criminal counts. The Trump Organization’s finances are also at the center of a civil fraud trial.

The $250 million civil fraud trial was allowed to proceed after Judge Arthur Engoron said in a 35-page ruling that he and his organization overvalued several of his properties to secure favorable loan terms and lower insurance premiums.

One property that was said to be overpriced was the members-only Mar-a-Lago Club in Palm Beach, Florida. According to court documents, Trump said the Mar-a-Lago club is worth between $426.5 million and $612.1 million. The judge cited the Palm Beach County assessor to note that the property’s assessed market value was at least 2,300 percent less than what the former president had claimed (between $18 million and $27.6 million).

After the ruling, New York State Attorney Letitia James, who brought the fraud case against Trump that includes his adult sons, Eric Trump and Donald Trump Jr., said in a statement: “Today, the judge ruled in our favor and found that Donald Trump and the Trump Organization have engaged in financial fraud for years. We look forward to presenting the rest of our case at trial.”

Trump also responded to the ruling by taking to the social media site Truth Social and accusing the judge of being “a deranged Trump-hating judge who RUSHED this FAKE CASE through a New York court at unprecedented speed, refusing to let him into the Commercial Division, where it belongs, denying me everything, No trial, no jury.”

He added that Mar-a-Lago is “WORTH MAYBE 100 TIMES” and stated, “My actual net worth is MUCH HIGHER than the number shown in the financial statements, a BIG SURPRISE for him and the racist AG, Letitia James, who campaigned for office on get Trump platform.”

After the trial began on Monday, Trump’s lawyers filed a notice of appeal with the New York Court of Appeals, according to CNN. Trump was not ordered to appear at the trial, but attended each of the first three days, which James called a “political stunt.”

“I will not be bullied. Mr. Trump is no longer here. The Donald Trump show is over. This was nothing more than a political stunt, a fundraising stunt,” James said, according to the newspaper.
