Career
Jack started his career as the drummer for the Detroit band Goober & the Peas at the age of 19 and remained in that position until the band broke up in 1996. He learned about traveling and performing live. After the band broke up, he took a day job as an upholsterer while working in local bands. He also engaged in solo performances. Jack and his wife Meg began their careers in Michigan’s underground garage rock music scene.
In 1998, Dave Buick signed The White Stripes to Italy Records, a small and independent garage punk label based in Detroit. In 1999, the band got the chance to release their self-titled first album, and a year later the cult classic De Stijl was released. In 2001, the band released White Blood Cells. Jack collaborated on several music albums. Among them are Elephant, Get Behind Me Satan, Seven Nation Army, Icky Thump (2007) and others. He also played a character named Georgia in the 2003 film Cold Mountain.
