Jacob Hoggard, a former singer and songwriter for the Canadian band Hedley, was found guilty of sexually assaulting a woman in Toronto six years ago. On October 20, 2022, Judge Gillian Roberts of the Ontario Superior Court sentenced him to five years in prison. Roberts said during sentencing that she fully accepts the victim’s story. Crown recommended a sentence of six to seven years, while the defense asked for three to four years.
