It is claimed he could be offered a way out of his current Old Trafford nightmare by an unnamed Saudi Pro League club – who have until Thursday night to complete their transfer deal.

It is according to Sport Italiawho claims that one of the mega-rich Saudi clubs “sent an official offer” to Sancho’s representatives.

The club are said to be hard at work “exploring” the possibility of signing the former Borussia Dortmund player.

Sancho, 23, appeared to be in Ten Hag’s good graces after taking a three-month break from the first team last season to focus on his mental health.

But his performances in training have failed to impress his opposition recently, who left him out of the matchday squad for United’s 3-1 defeat at Arsenal last Sunday.

Ten Hag said: “In terms of his performance in training, we didn’t pick him.

“At Manchester United you have to reach a level every day.

“You can choose in the first line, so in this game he was not chosen.”

Sancho hit back at his manager on Twitter, writing in a message: “Please don’t believe everything you read!

“I’m not going to let people say things that are completely untrue. I’ve held up really well in training this week.

“I believe there are other reasons for this matter which I will not go into, I have been the scapegoat for a long time, which is not fair!

“All I want is to play football with a smile on my face and contribute to the team.

“I respect all the decisions of the coaching staff, I play with fantastic players and I am grateful for that, because I know that every week is a challenge.

“I’ll keep fighting for this badge no matter what!”

Manchester United return to action for a week on Saturday, welcoming Brighton to Old Trafford.
